Restaurant le Mogadorien
About This Spot
Stepping into Restaurant le Mogadorien, nestled quietly on Rue Abdellah Chefchaouni in Essaouira’s medina, feels like uncovering a well-kept local secret. The gentle hum of calm dining music mingles with the soft clinking of glasses, inviting you to slow down and settle into an unhurried rhythm. This is a place where time feels spacious, allowing moments to stretch comfortably as the evening sets in.
The atmosphere exudes a balanced blend of Mediterranean ease and Moroccan warmth. Outside, small European-style tables draw in passersby seeking a relaxed setting, while inside reveals a more intimate Moroccan character — cozy nooks and thoughtful details whisper stories of the city’s layered culture. It’s a quiet refuge from the bustling medina streets, where friendly conversations weave through the welcoming service, encouraging a sense of belonging without rushing the experience.
Le Mogadorien’s culinary offerings gently reflect the coastal spirit of Essaouira, with dishes that feel both familiar and infused with local character. Whether it’s the delicate sea bream or richly spiced tajines, each plate arrives with a careful touch that speaks of tradition and care. The seafood pastilla, for instance, carries the sweet and savory harmony of the region’s history, while simple antipasti and hearty brochettes capture an ease that makes every meal approachable.
Here, flavors unfold at their own pace — from tender grilled squid to the comforting embrace of a well-made chicken tagine — complemented by a warm, attentive service that feels like an invitation to stay a little longer. The dining experience is as much about savoring the food as it is about soaking in the ambiance: a serene, welcoming nook amid Essaouira’s vibrant streets.
For those seeking a genuine taste of the city’s quieter moments and authentic interpersonal touches, Restaurant le Mogadorien offers a balanced retreat — a place where the local spirit is felt in both its flavors and the calm ease of its space.

Lovely place to eat we had the chicken, fish and calamari tagines and they were very tasty. The atmosphere was calm and authentic and the price was resonable. Staff were very friendly. We were very happy with our experience.

Really tasty food with typical ingredients! Available seating outdoors and super cozy place with ocidental deco, friendly staff as well, we could get along with French and English just fine! Kinda pricy on average with similar places but worth it.

Lovely restaurants with fantastic service. The seating at the front is pretty little tables in a very European style with the seating in the main area much more Moroccan. As with pretty much every place in the medina it is so much bigger inside than you expect from outside. Food is good and presented fantastically. Prices are excellent and the service EXCELLENT. Go there if you can - a real treasure.

Nice small restaurant. Quiet atmosphere with calm dining music. The fish was rather thin but the spaghetti was a good portion and quite good.

Had such a lovely time at this restaurant so we went back for 3 times within 2 days. Fish soup is my favourite, and grilled sole and sea bream are also strongly recommended. We also tried chicken skewers and grilled squid which were also with high standard. Also very great service from Hamza. If we ever go back to Essaouira again will definitely pay another visit. Thank you!

Good, fresh foods in an elegant setting. This restaurant is in our list of food tasting in Essaouira. We first tried it our first visit to this city in 2019. My favorite is the grilled sea bream and Moroccan soup (Harira?) while my spouse always opts for Moroccan salad and chicken tangine. Satisfied every time! Service is great! Highly recommended!
